Dear parents, carers, children and other interested parties,

As Clavering Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo), it is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 'Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND)' section of the Clavering website.

SEND can be a very controversial and emotive area, but I would like to emphasise the following two points to anyone who visits this part of our website:

  1. All staff members of Clavering Primary School believe that every child has an entitlement to personal, social and intellectual development and must be given the opportunity to achieve his/her potential in learning.
  2. Likewise, all staff members of Clavering Primary School believe that every child should have access to high quality and appropriate education.

I am very proud to be the SENDCo of a school which cares so much for the needs of every child. This is something that is recognised by all the professionals who visit us from outside agencies (including Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and staff from the Visual and Hearing Impaired Services).
‘The special educational needs coordinator is skilled and knowledgeable. She knows the pupils well and ensures that their personal plans are reflective of their needs. Advice from a range of external professional partners informs and supplements the provision for individual pupils. This ensures that pupils’ targets are precise, and the support that they receive is appropriate for pupils to be successful. Consequently, pupils with SEND make good progress from their starting points.’ (Ofsted)
